Merge PDF

Combine several PDFs into one, in the order you choose.

Combine two or more PDF files into a single document without uploading anything: the merge runs in your browser, so your files never leave your computer. It is free, there is no sign-up, and the page order is yours to choose.

How to merge PDF files online

1Drop two or more PDF files onto the page, or click to choose them.
2Drag the files into the order you want them to appear in the merged PDF.
3Click Merge PDFs and download the combined file. It is built in your browser in seconds.

Private by design

Most online PDF tools upload your file to a server. PDF Bench does the work with code that runs in your browser tab, so contracts, invoices and ID scans never leave your computer. Close the tab and nothing remains.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Every tool is free for two edits per hour, with no account. The site is paid for by the ads you see. Pro removes the limit and the ads.

What counts as an edit?

One run of a tool that produces a file: one merge, one split, one conversion, and so on. Previewing pages or adding files does not count.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no hard limit, but everything happens in your browser's memory. Files up to about 200 MB work well on a normal laptop; on a phone, stay under 50 MB.

Why is my compressed file not much smaller?

"Lean" mode only removes unused objects and rewrites the file structure, which keeps text selectable. If the PDF is mostly scanned images, use "Strong" mode: it re-renders each page as a JPEG at the quality you choose, which can cut the size by 70 to 90 percent.

How good is the Word conversion?

Word to PDF keeps headings, paragraphs, bold, lists, tables (as simple rows) and images, and works in any language. PDF to Word rebuilds the text as editable paragraphs with headings and bold detected from the fonts; page images are not carried over, and scanned PDFs with no text layer produce an empty document.

Can I edit existing text inside a PDF?

Not yet. You can add new text, watermark, number pages, convert to Word and back, and reorganize pages. Rewriting embedded text needs font and layout reflow, which is on the roadmap.

Do you keep my files?

No. Nothing is uploaded. Your file is read into the page, processed, and offered back to you as a download.
